How To True Mtb Wheel

Not everyone has an expensive truing stand. so i show how to true bicycle wheels with the wheel mounted on the bike. this is just simple truing and assumes the wheel is in good shape and just has. The bicycle wheel is a great piece of engineering; the hub actually hangs from the rim by the spokes. it may be obvious, but you do need all the spokes that the wheel started with to have any chance of truing it up correctly.. Even wheels that have collapsed into the shape of a potato chip usually can be made rideable again with this technique this is a very useful on-the-road repair -- it even can be done without removing the wheel from the bike..

A mountain bike wheel with a dink in it is a mechanical waiting to happen: 10 minutes with a spoke key however and it can be as good as new! 1. get the bike up into a stand. attach a zip-tie to the seatstay and cut it so it touches the rim. 2. spin the wheel and mark where it touches the zip-tie. Just suspend the bike so that the wobbler is at about chest level. and be sure to move a good light next to the bike so you can see what you’re doing. typical wheel problems under normal use, wheels remain true because the spokes are evenly tensioned to keep the rim aligned.. Vital mtb and art's cyclery are here to provide a few wheel truing tips so you can keep your wheels rolling strong for years. it's good to think of a wheel as a single organism, whose spokes, nipples, hub and rim all interact with each other to create a strong, healthy being..
